Frequently Asked Questions

Element is free in the following ways:

  1. You are free to do anything with it that you want (including use it on as many machines as you wish, make copies of it for friends).
  2. You can get the source code without charge, and build (and modify) the program yourself.

Some people like to explain this with the phrase “Element is free as in free speech, not free as in free beer“.

Simply put, no.  If you previously purchased Element Pro, downloads / updates are still available in your account area until 2.0.

It’s unfortunate Element didn’t survive as commercial software, and the current state of it WOULD NOT have been possible without you.  Instead of letting the project come to a screeching halt due to lack of sales… we decided it best to open the source and make it a community project.

As an Element Pro/SE license holder, you will still get all the updates, downloads, and top notch support as always.

Thank you for understanding.

See the section above.  The only difference is now you have the full-fledged version of Element including the AU/VST/VST3/AAX plugins!  Have at it.

Essentially it has been replaced by Patreon.

If you previously purchased a Pro license on this site, downloads will be in your account area.

Downloads of the most recent Element and Plugin binaries is available to subscribers of Kushview.  Public binary downloads on GitHub will usually be a few versions behind.  See the FAQ above about free software.
