Element v1.2.0

Element 1.2.0 is now available, and it’s headlined by the biggest upgrade to MIDI mapping since the feature was first introduced: a completely rewritten MIDI mapping engine.

Mapping now has its own dedicated editing panel, complete with filters to quickly narrow down what you’re looking for, and human-readable display names for devices, nodes, and parameters — no more guessing which “Param 23” you mapped last week. You can now map MIDI directly to plugin parameters, and mappings are persisted and applied far more reliably across sessions. Tap tempo gets mapping support too, including from any CC on your controller, and the tap indicator blinks when it’s being driven by incoming MIDI so you always know it’s working. Behind the scenes, old mapping data is automatically migrated to the new format, so existing sessions should carry over cleanly.

MIDI programs also got a workflow overhaul. The node panel now shows a full listing of a node’s MIDI Programs, program numbers can be edited right in place, and the selection stays in sync when the program changes from your hardware. Performers using the MIDI Set List can now assign a time signature to each program, which is sent automatically on program change — handy for sets that move between meters.

• Plugin favorites and visibility options — pin the plugins you actually use and hide the ones you don’t.
• Lua tempo access — scripts can now read and write the session tempo.
• More accurate metering — a stable RMS window and dB calibration mean a -20 dB test tone actually reads -20 dB.
• A more resilient plugin scanner — plugins that crash during scanning are handled gracefully instead of blacklisting otherwise-good scans, with progress feedback for large shell plugin scans.
• CLAP fixes, including correct default scan paths on first run.
• Stability — tightened symbol visibility prevents crashes with certain third-party plugins built with JUCE.
